Ouest contribution to the DEMOT competition for the two modernist buildings on Rue de Mot Brussels with the goal of designing permanent affordability.

DEMOT Affordable Housing Plan is a counter-competition for the transformation of the former European Commission buildings at Rue Demot 24 and 28 in Brussels.
The irony is hard to ignore: these two modernist blocks currently house the Commission’s Housing Taskforce, the very body meant to address Europe’s housing crisis. Yet under current redevelopment plans, their conversion into housing will not deliver social housing and will not create any truly affordable homes.

*DEMOT calls for alternative visions: proposals that rethink financing, ownership, architecture, and program to imagine how these buildings could truly become homes for people to live in. A chance for the European Union to live up to their values!
