KAAP is an arts centre for music, stage, literature and visual arts. It has a base in Bruges’ Groenestraat, but for larger public presentations it works partly nomadically, at various locations in Bruges and Ostend. KAAP now wants to thoroughly transform its headquarters – ‘the Groenplaats’.

The proposal we made for the competition tries to work as much as possible with the existing qualities and constraints of the current situation, reinforcing relations towards the street and the city, the link or collection of specific spaces at every floor and part of the site, playing with scales, views and intimacy, for a whole project that organizes itself around a new garden in the center of the plot.
